Cindy Meadows, County Commissioner.
“This is an exciting project, and I am looking
forward to it.” Commissioner Meadows
represents District 5, which is where the
Beautification Project is located.
Pointing to their current state, she says
the medians can get neglected. “The Beautification Project is important because it allows
us to put forth our best face and show that
we really care about our community,” said
Commissioner Meadows. “Ultimately, it is an
enhancement that helps our local businesses,
the tourism industry and our economic
momentum. Everyone benefits from median
beautification. It has a calming effect on traffic, decreases litter and makes people more
aware of where they are — that they have
arrived in Walton County and this place is
beautiful!”
Bill Smith, RLA, is a landscape architect
and urban planner with Kimley-Horn’s office
in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin®. He is
the landscape architect for the project and
describes the design concept for the medians
as a “patterned and rhythmic green belt”.
The variety of foliage will include Tree-Form
Yaupon, Bald Cypress, Silver Saw Palmetto,
Compact Walter’s Viburnum, Dune Sunflower, Cone Flower, Blanket Flower, Muhly Grass,
Sand Cordgrass, and Marsh Hay Cordgrass.
“We are so thankful to the Department
of Transportation, Walton County, and
many hardworking individuals for helping
us receive these grants,” said Hall. “We are
blessed to live in paradise with people who
are forward-thinking and who want to make
a difference in their community.”

and The Bridge, a 4,200 square-foot, two-story clubhouse featuring full amenities, a
bar and grille and the Fleet Room, available for meetings and social gatherings. Phase
Three includes the completion of the 12,000 square-foot clubhouse and will commence once Phase Two is complete.
“We are excited to welcome the beautiful new North Light Yacht Club to our business community and are looking forward to enjoying the services they will offer to
our residents and visitors,” said Tricia Brunson, president and CEO of the Niceville-Val-paraiso Chamber of Commerce. “This type of business is part of what makes our area
such a desirable place to work and live.” Corporate, dry slip and social memberships
will be available for pre-purchase beginning April 24. The club’s first 50 members will
make up the elite North Light Founders Circle and will enjoy the club’s highest level
of benefits and privileges. Several other membership tiers are also available, each offering unique incentives.
