Weight Loss System
Could this be true? A weight loss system that
will work for just about everyone. The answer
is yes and the method behind it is simple and
easy to understand. I like to call it the negative
calorie flow. It’s basically the opposite of what
you want your bank statement to look like. In
the financial world, a negative cash flow is when you have more
money going out to pay for expenses than coming in. This is
essentially what you want to happen in your body if you want
to lose weight. The problem is how to do this in a way that will
work best for you. That is what makes fitness and diet programs
unique and very individualized. So first things first—let’s get
familiar with some terms that are used often in the fitness world.
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the energy (calories) used
by the body at rest to maintain normal bodily functions which
includes the beating of our heart, respiration, and the maintenance
of body temperature. The formula is a little complicated so I would
suggest looking up BMR calculator on the internet or just type in
http://preventdisease.com/healthtools/articles/bmr.html which
will take you to one that’s easy to use. What you are basically trying
to do is force your body to use the stored energy in fat to offset
the lower caloric intake and higher expenditure of energy you are
producing from exercise thus producing a negative calorie flow.
If you can learn the basics and stick with a plan, then you can
change not only your weight but you can begin to live a healthier
life and at the end of the day. Isn’t that what we all want? b
The hard part is finding ways to
fit this into your busy life. Here are a
few tips that should help you out:
1. Starting is the hardest part, so
use a personal trainer to help guide and
develop a program that you can live with.
2. Eat smaller more frequent meals.
This helps keep your energy (metabolism)
and blood sugar at a more constant level.
3. Educate yourself on the Glycemic
Index and Glycemic Load. This will
help you understand the difference
in good and bad carbohydrates which
can make weight lose a lot easier.
4. Muscle does not weigh more then
fat. Five pounds of muscle is equal to five
pounds of fat, but the volume is different.
One ml of fat equals 0.9 grams where
one ml of muscle equals 1.1 grams.
5. Your exercise program should have
a combination of resistance (weights) and
cardiovascular training. Lean muscle is
more metabolically active which means
it helps increase your BMR by burning
more calories throughout the day.
6. Drink plenty of water.—
approximately 64 ounces of water
a day for the typical person.
7. Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.
Sleep is important for your physical,
