Moving from right to left, the horizontal composition
vividly depicts palace life in an open panorama. Within
the narrative, you will see ladies preening, making themselves beautiful and engaged in such pleasant pastimes
as catching butterflies, music and art. Pretty much your
typical day at the palace. For the patient and tenacious,
see if you can locate the hidden fish intertwined within
the trees.
The island-flavored Tommy Bahama’s Tropical
Café & Emporium displays more than 40 unique wall
treatments throughout the island-themed store and
restaurant. It’s fun to browse the compound and count
as many as you can. And speaking of interesting large
numbers—I have it on good authority that the Tommy
Bahama hunky, silver-haired iconic model, Andy, wears
an impressive size 11 shoe.
Upon entering Southern Waters Outfitters, your eyes
immediately go to the amazing airplane with the 10-foot
wing span hanging overhead. The replica is a scale model
of a 1946 Beaver Sea Plane and was made in Vancouver
especially for the Grand Boulevard store to compliment
their travel gear and motif.
In a wink and a nod to the beach community in
which Grand Boulevard is located, you’ll notice that
turtles rule, right down to the cast iron manhole covers
imprinted with Loggerhead turtle designs. The turtle
theme began with the community retail phase of Grand
Boulevard, which includes Publix Food and Pharmacy,
and can be seen throughout the development.
The next time you visit Grand Boulevard, you will
have the inside scoop on some of the more interesting concepts and behind-the-scenes details that have
contributed to make this town center an extraordinary
regional destination for locals and visitors. b
